Love Conquers All

sie May became pregnant. They were not sure as to who the father might be, Joe or Otis D. Slemmons. When the baby was born Joe's mother came to him and said, "You ain't ast 'bout de baby, Joe. You oughter be mighty proud cause he sho' is de spittin' image of yuh, son." After the baby was born things at the Banks' house began to go back to normal. In the story Shiloh Leroy and Norma Jean married because Norma Jean was pregnant with Leroy's child. When the baby was four months old he died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). When the baby died the marriage just went with it.One couple stayed together and the other did not, another difference between them. In The Gilded Six-Bits Joe and Missie May went back to their old games they had always played. Joe would bring home candy kisses for her to find once again. In Shiloh Norma Jean left Leroy. They were not the same people they had once known. Their marriage was based on a child and not based on love. As Norma Jean and Leroy grew up they grew apart. When it comes to love nothing is stronger. When a marriage is based on anything but love, that marriage usually falls apart. In both stories there were many similarities and many differences. Missie May and Joe were meant for each other. As for Norma Jean and Leroy, there is someone out there that they can love. Many things can have an effect on a persons marriage. Such as a child, a mother, or why they were married in the first place. In these stories each one of these had an effect on both marriages. Some marriages stay together some split up. The ones that split up are usually for the better....
