But, this does not her affect Gloria because she is a fighter.Gloria Steinem has four main examples that she used to argue her point. Firstly, she thinks women are just as capable as men in combat. The problem is men don't want women to learn how to use guns. Secondly, she argues in the case of a fire, it would be a lot better to be dragged out by a women, instead of carried out by a man. This is because smoke travels up and if you're being carried in the air, you're more likely to inhale the smoke. Thirdly, she beliefs that there is "anti-American crazy research on spending money on men and women research--who cares because its all biological!" (Men, Women). Lastly, when asked about the impact of gender roles on raising children, Steinem said that the solution is not so much one of raising girls like boys or boys like girls. She said it is best to raise children as whole people, noting that there will not be true quality among the sexes until fathers take a more equal role in raising their own children. Sexist parents make boys more aggressive.Also on the nurture side is Bella Abzug. "Bella Abzug always championed women's rights, human rights, equality, peace and social justice. Abzug worked as an attorney in civil rights and labor law, working often without pay to represent the poor, minorities and those attacked by forces of repression. In 1970 she won the Democratic primary in New York's 19th District, and in 1971 took her seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Wearing her trademark wide-brimmed hat, she landed running, introducing legislation calling for an end to the Vietnam War, banning discrimination against women seeking credit, gay rights, reproductive freedom, and more.
