ir own peace within the powers of their own sovereignty. The US has undoubtedly done irreversible damage to the two tribes. However, hope remains within these incredibly undaunted peoples for resolution. There is no Navajo word for relocation…to relocate means to disappear and never be seen again. Realistically, relocation translates into the destruction of their culture. A culture based upon tradition and the land. The Navajo are clearly bearing the major brunt of the travesty Jerry Kammer termed as "The Second Long Walk." However, with the loss of their ancient trade neighbors, the Hopi are sure to lose elements of their culture as well.To date, both tribes have been victimized. However, this tale is far from over. Hopefully the two tribes will recognize that by fighting the other side, they are destroying themselves. Hopefully, the common resolution of compromise will infiltrate both tribal councils as they battle their true enemy for sovereignty.Works CitedBenedek, Emily. 1993. The Wind Won't Know Me.
