The older crowd about 42% of them was smoking and implied peer pressure as a reason more so then parents. Of those smokers parents were more likely to be smokers but again they did not put parents as the main factor. I still believe my hypothesis is correct because I felt that though parents might contribute to their habits I feel that age has more to do with this. In the end I think its supper important for any study of this type should make sure to clarify who will be tested and include that information. Parents in my study did not seem to be the bigger factor for whether the child smokes but the age, peers, and culture had more influencing factors. Though parents who smoked were more likely to have children who smoke in the older age range it held different for the younger and showed the varying possibilities. This study was relevant to me because I my self come from a family of non-smokers and out of the five children. Three are currently smokers and I myself use to smoke. Our parents were so adamant about no smoking and were never smokers themselves. I wanted to see from own experience that why we picked up on a habit that wasnt learned.
