However, because they did not believe that America was capable of such a feat, they ignored their suspicion. Japan did not change its code (Prange 355).What do we know about the so- called day of infamy? We know that it happened. We know that some will refer to it as the day of deceit. Did Roosevelt lie to us by omission, just plain out lie us or was he just helping out the country. Some such as journalist Clare Booth just believe he was always telling us the truth. “She believed that he would never knowingly or obviously contradict popular opinion...” nor would he withhold information which could lead to war when so many in America were dead set against it. (Bachrach 36). However, many disagree. For so much evidence has been discovered. FDR did know that Japan was going to attack us, why did he want us to enter the war so bad? Whatever the reason may have been, it entered us into one of the most historical and gruesome wars ever....
