The tourism front will surely take a hit during the early stages of being FAS; this is due to questionable political status and security. In affect breaking away from the United States will cause the island to lose some of its luster.Due to the fact that we will still have close ties to the U.S., the island’s political system will somewhat mirror that of the U.S. Guam will also be able to handle its own foreign affairs, create its own policy concerning other nations. Through expected negotiations, the role of defending the island will still be the responsibility of the United States.
