The 1960s

ecame widely used. However, somewere smoking hash, taking mescaline, peyote, LSD, barbiturates and sedatives. The listgoes on and on. And it was only the beginning. Drug use was everywhere. Rockmusicians used drugs frequently and openly. Their compositions were riddled withreferences to drugs, from the Beatles' "I get high with a little help from my friends" to theJefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit."The 1960s was a decade of change. It was an oblivion of turmoil, and a constantstruggle for equality in our society. The upheaval of the sixties changed the future of theentire nation. Martin Luther King Jr., dared to question the ignorance and affluence ofthe nation. Every aspect of the sixties from the Civil Rights Movement to the studentmovement and even the fun and fashion contributed to the rewriting of our countryshistory. The 1960s changed the way our country looked apon not only social equality , Straughn 7but also our nations culture. The sixties was a cultural revolution. A revolution thatchanged the nation, and laid the ground work for the nations future....
