gination. The words on the Blair Witch advertisement are a good example of this idea. The words are what really make this advertisement so effective. They set a mood, which leaves the reader wondering in suspense and fear. The imagination runs wild thinking of different scenarios of what could have happened to these kids. The ability of the printed word to touch the imagination can also be one of its weaknesses. Images pertaining to the written words help us to connect the words on the page with something. The Blair Witch advertisement becomes less powerful when the image of the forest is taken away and just the words a left. The images allow the viewer to make a visual to the woods that these students disappeared in. Both words and images are powerful, but they do have their limits. By themselves, they can only be so effective, but when combined, they create a powerful form of communication. Images and words compliment eachother. The qualities that images lack, words have, and the qualities that words lack, images posses. The accessibility, concision, and the ability to excite emotions of images combined with the abilities of words to express the abstract, see beyond the surface, and touch the imagination are what makes this combination so powerful and effective....
