The War on Drugs

illegal drugs has two sides. If drugs were to become legal it would create a safer environment for users not only with the threat of disease but with of the quality of the substances. Another positive result of decriminalizing drugs would be that it would put drug dealers out of business, and not to mention reducing the U.S. incarceration population, which is currently estimated at 2 million people. The decriminalization of narcotics would also increase the use of much stronger substances by deviants and give the false impression that it is ok to abuse drugs. The thought of making drugs legal is an extremely difficult decision to make and cannot be taken delicately. Evidence has been offered for and against for and against the decriminalization of illegal narcotics. The question is do the benefits out weigh the costs to society. ...
