E-business solutions serve more rapid responses to needs in many cases, since they shorten supply chains. Direct distribution channels are generally more convenient and eliminate unnecessary steps in reaching to end-customers. Sometimes products can be delivered electronically (films, software, articles magazines…etc). Moreover, reduction in transaction costs and overheads results in price reductions for customers.New rules, new markets, new needs inspire novel business opportunities which also provide the opportunities for entirely new products and services for customers. Deficiencies of InternetBeing stateless brings about various legal difficulties; there is no upper authority over the Internet. Since the Internet is not designed for commerce there are serious security problems as well. Those inappropriate and unsuitable circumstances constitute the most serious deficiencies of the Internet for commerce. However, developing technologies come up with effective solutions. Digital signatures, public/private keys, secure socket layers; certificate authorities and some other developments in encryption and authorization procedures are some of the recent solutions for security problems. Despite all arguments against pervasive use of the Internet and deficiencies of Internet for commercial use, it is almost impossible to ignore its power on future business models. I believe considering the Internet and e-business as a new management fad is nothing but losing time because e-business will be the inevitable future of all businesses.
