in the story. They also gave several VERY good points that are evidence of symbolism in the novel, such as the white sepulcher. At this point in our unit, I believe that I would like to write my paper for this theme over this topic, because it has such a wide variety of directions that I could take with it. For example, I could choose several specific symbols in the story (maybe the sepulcher and/or the painting) and I could use those to relate to the theme of black and white and show how they contribute to the plot. There are other ways to use the themes of black and white, too. I could use quotes, characters, or scenes that show the good and evil. I will wait and see what the prompts suggest to write about, but hopefully one of them will be having to do with the black and white or good and evil imagery....
