People talk about the destruction of the ozone layer, devastation of the rain forests, about deadly pollutions that will be with us for millions of years, and about the loss of dozens of species of life every day. Why aren't people more excited? Because they have been given an explanation which covers the pollution of the ocean, the extinction of the thousands of species and more. And it satisfies them, or rather, it pacifies them. They put their shoulders to the grindstone by day and stupefy themselves with television or drugs by night, and try not to think too searchingly about the world they're leaving for their children to cope with. You yourself were given the same explanation of how things came to be this way as everyone else, but it apparently doesn't satisfy you.
