uch silent. Murder, Vandalism, and Discrimination. When you first hear these words what comes to your mind? A gang of young hoodlums, a misguided cult of some sorts, a psychotic killer? Maybe but there is a group of people within the United States who have created an organization who get away with these crimes everyday. This group is the KKK. The KKK is a secret society, which has made a humongous impact on our society, our nation and our minorities. We had to live with hatred and disgust that the KKK posses. There is not very much that the government can do to the Klan due to their first amendment rights. The first amendment gives them freedom of speech, which they use to discriminate, freedom of religion, the KKK see their organization as a religion, and the freedom to assemble, which gives them the right to hold their meetings in public places. The Klan has Membership everywhere you look. There are even chapters around our parts. The Civil War had the biggest impact and was the initial spark for the KKK. After a short time the Klan that was ran out of an old barn grew to be huge. The UKA, United Klan’s of America stepped in and helped the Ku Klux Klan get started. The Klan was one of the very first terrorist groups ever in U.S. history. The KKK is a hate group which has had three major periods of activity, the first was the mid 1860’s to the early 1870’s, the second was 1915 to 1944 and the third was from the late 1940’s until the early 1970’s.After the Civil War there were feelings of hatred and disgust towards blacks and other minorities, this is where the KKK started. The Klan stared in 1866 by six confederate veterans who hated blacks with a passion. These six men started a social club in Pulaski, Tennessee. One of these six men was the confederate general Nathan Bedford Forrest, he is the man credited for founding...
