sn’t sound that scary, but for Pecola, it’s the worst. Because everyday she is reminded of why she teased and laughed at and why she has no friends at school. People don’t know her, they only see her. She had only TWO FRIENDS outside of school, Claudia and Frieda who are –surprisingly- white. But they were too young to care or judge you by the color of your skin. But none the less, they were her friends and sometimes it seemed like they were all Pecola had in the world. Then one day, Pecola finds an ad in the paper about a man who had powers beyond others. He could change your life, your wealth, and maybe even…your looks. And in the end, Pecola gets her wish but by then, the reader knows that although this is what the story is based on, it’s not what the book is completely about. It’s a story about the nightmare at the heart of a little girl’s yearning and the tragedy of how it’s fulfilled. ‘The Bluest Eye’ by Toni Morrison is one of the most powerful and unique books that I’ve ever read and I definitely recommend it. ...
