g of proactive is that as humans, we are responsible for our own lives. Mr. Covey states that our behavior is a function of our decisions. For example, if I wait until the last minute to do my chores at home and then I have to hurry to get them completed before I can go to sleep. I will probably be upset because I can’t watch television or spend time with my friends. If I was proactive and decided to do the chores earlier in the day, I would probably be allot happier because now I could choose to watch television or spend time with my friends. Mr. Covey asks his readers to look at the word responsibility. He states that responsibility means to be able to choose your response. Reactive people are effected by the weather and their social environment. If is a bright sunny day, they will say that they are in a good mood because of the weather. If reactive people are around people who are negative, They will become negative too. Reactive people are driven by feelings. Proactive people are driven by values that are carefully thought about and selected. One of the most important parts of being proactive to make and keep commitments. In the workplace, making and keeping commitments usually means meeting dead lines. If you consistently meet dead lines, your co-workers will begin to think of you as dependable and you will be given more responsibility. Habit 2 is Begin with the end in mind. To begin with the end in mind means that before you start a project, imagine the project completed. Imagine how it will work and what it will look like. Mr. Covey believes that all projects are created twice. Once mentally, to come up with an idea and to think about how it will work. Then the project is completely physically, to actually create the idea. A good example of projects being created twice is this book report.
