Also, many of these protests became violent and they caused manyproblems.The topic of the death penalty has affected many people all over the country andstill does today. It can either affect them personally if someone close to them has beenexecuted or it can affect them just because they are surrounded by the issue because ofwhere they live. I have never had anyone close to me executed or anyone executedbecause of what they did to someone close to me. I am one of those people that isaffected by the death penalty because of where I live. In Texas the death penalty is a bigissue and it is a very controversial issue between people that have many different views. People that have had someone close to them executed are affected completely different bythe death penalty than what I am because I have never had to feel those affects directly. Those people probably have completely different views on this issue than what I do. If Iever do end up having to feel those affects, I still dont think I will change my point ofview on the death penalty because I firmly believe in the death penalty. One last reason Ibelieve that the death penalty affects me is because I feel that it keeps me more safe. Ibelieve this because at least I know that a criminal that has committed such a horriblecrime is not able to ever do it again. If they are not executed then there is still a chance ofthe criminal getting out at some point in time or even escaping and being able to commitanother crime.
