With marital status on the other hand, people who have been separated show the highest rates of depressive symptoms, and those who have never been married or are presently married show the lowest rates. Lastly, the rates of depressive symptoms are significantly higher in people of a lower social class than people of the higher social classes. There is also a higher rate of bipolar depressive disorder in men and women with higher educational achievement than those of middle and lower levels.
