well, then the chances of a successful recovery are better. The nurse’s attitude and methods of care can greatly influence that.The nursing actions that can be taken to incorporate the Native American customs and beliefs could be to incorporate traditional foods into the diet which are believed to help healing. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has put together a menu of traditional foods that could be followed. Some of these foods include wild rhubarb, seaweed and black tree moss. Some traditional meats that could be offered are deer or elk.Another nursing actions that could be taken involved the knowledge of traditional medications. It is important to know how natural herbs work and which patient is taking them. Some of these herbal mediations are extremely strong and will interfere with other medicines that are prescribed. It is important to know any problems that may occur by contraindicated medicine.The most important thing to remember when caring for the Native American person is that they are extremely spiritual and hold customs and traditions very close to them. We need some knowledge of these customs in order to properly care for them.
