isaac netwon Sir Isaac Newton and Gottfried Leibniz are both accredited for the discovery of Calculus. Both of these men were born about the same and died around the same time. Both were known as supreme intellects of the 17th century. Gottfried Leibniz was born in 1646 in Leipzig. He went to school at the universities of Leipzig, Jena, and Altdorf. He was awarded his doctorate in law in 1666. He later went to Paris to devote time to the study of mathematics, science, and philosophy. In 1671 he was appointed librarian and privy councilor at the court of Hannover. His contemporaries considered Leibniz a universal genius. He also studied theology, law diplomacy, politics, history, and physics. In 1675 =, he founded the fundamental principles of infinitesimal calculus. The Leibniz’s system was published in 1684. He also in 1672 invented a calculating machine capable of multiplying, dividing, and extracting square roots. Sir Isaac Netwon was born 1642 in Woolsthorpe, Lincolnshire, in England.
