Shakespeare is very good at creating tension and scene one is full of tension. Shakespeare makes it midnight, a mystical hour. It could not have been 11:47 when the guards were changing it had to be midnight. Another point is that it is at the gun platform on the battlements of a Castle. This scene could have been set in a range of different places but Shakespeare chose well. Shakespeare chose to set it at a place where tension was common, a battlefield.
