The Tempest

unavailable when reading the passage but after studying it I believe that the tone of the passage is both powerful and serious. When reading this passage I saw Prospero as a teacher explaining to me the way of life. Knowing that Prospero is a magician also adds to the powerfulness of the passage. It seems his special powers make his words seem that much more important.In many of Shakespeares plays, Shakespeare seems to always bring his audience into his work. By doing this he forces us to interact with his plays. In The Tempest he builds up Prospero by making him a king and a magician, so we see Prospero as a super being. By doing this when Prospero says his lines in the fourth act the reader then begins to feel as if they were part of Prosperos dream the whole time, allowing the audience to feel as if they are part of the play. Shakespeares ability to create characters such as Prospero and create lines such as the ones in the fourth act is what makes his plays truly remarkable. ...
