Today there is so much more for a child to learn and do, and every child has anequal chance to attain these goals. To revert back to the 1950s is a goal stemming fromfrustration of a generation of parents, a frustration that while often justified, is not solvablewith a blind leap to an American culture as different as the 1850s to the 1900s.
