February 15, 1934 When the Russians came close to Auschwitz, the Germans took us from the camp and marched us west away from the approaching army. February 16,1934 We marched a whole night to the Polish city of Gleiwitz, about 70 miles away. My brother kept saying to me, "Let's escape."
