Roger Wilkins author of Racism Has Its Privileges claims that, The idea of affirmative action is not to force people into positions for which they are unqualified but to encourage institutions to develop realistic criteria for the enterprise at hand and then to find a reasonably diverse mix of people qualified to be engaged in it. (236) Affirmative action serves as an allowance for those racially or sexually discriminated against, encouraging them to expand their horizons.
