He published a book and an article plus he has a file cabinet filled with other books and articles he wrote but never published. Jamal takes pleasure in jotting down information, thoughts and daily events in books that he carries at all times in his book bag. This gift of expressing himself in writing enabled him to obtain a scholarship to a private school. Both characters take pleasure in sports. Before his hibernation, Forrester always traveled to Yankee stadium with is his brother as a loyal Yankee fan. Jamal's scholarship was also awarded due in part to his love of basketball, at which he excelled.Finally the differences and similarity between Jamal and Forrester brought together two individuals to form a friendship that would last a lifetime. Jamal helped Forrester come out of his cocoon, to venture out into the world and live life once again. Forrester inspired Jamal to write from his heart. Both learned a valuable lesson from each other-never-let life pass you by, you might miss out on something very special. In conclusion, the two things that Forrester and Jamal loved brought them together. Their love for reading and writing inspired one to leave his cocoon and the other to write with feelings. ...
