Propaganda in American Media

image, from which some important information has deliberately been omitted. One of NATO’s most important lies was that Serbian police massacred Albanian civilians. In mid 1999 there was a shootout between the KLA (Kosovo Liberation Army) and the Serbian police at Racak, Kosovo. The battle was filmed by a French journalist, and witnessed by OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe), an independent organization present to observe the situation. The next day KLA claimed to have found the bodies of twenty three civilian Albanians in a ditch, each shot in the head several times. KLA also claimed that Serb police entered the village, separated men from women, took them to the ditch, and shot them. The U.S. media heavily publicized this story. It was the first of Serbian atrocities, and the sole incident reported before the U.S. began the bombing. The side of the story that the American people never heard was that those “civilian” Albanians were KLA soldiers killed in battle, who were later redressed as civilians and shot again to fake a civilian massacre. In another case, president Clinton ordered a bombing of a pharmaceutical factory in Khartoum, Kosovo and in a press release he said that he had irrefutable evidence that it was linked to terrorism, but to this day not a single shred has been released. The media will never run a follow-up on that story. The American People are misled constantly, and U.S. government, NATO , and the media are all guilty. Every news story is a filtered piece of propaganda, designed to conceal something.Ever since Aristotle outlined his principles of persuasion in Rhetoric, these principles of persuasion or compliance has been an important part of human history. I however believe that the way American media presents implements propaganda in the news is appalling to my sense of reason and my belief in the freedom of press.
