past, the CIA does not expose any of its operative’s identities or their whereabouts due to secrecy of their mission and to reduce the risk that their families might face from potential enemies. On September 11, 2001, the World Trade Center and its inhabitants in New York, New York, fell victim to terrorist action. Such an event had to take years and years of planning. With the United States being such a superpower, one would think that the CIA, FBI, and our other special operatives would have intercepted information portraying or describing such an attack. But our federal agencies were clueless. As a nation, we were caught off guard and left vulnerable to such an act of violence and destruction. In order for the CIA to help save face in front of the people of the United States, the name of the first fatality, let alone he was a covert operative, was released to the public. Johnny Spann, who died in the fight against terrorism, will be considered a hero in the eyes of our nation. His heroism and dedicated effort toward the crumbling of terrorism helps make the CIA look better in the public’s eye. Therefore, the CIA had saved face with the people of the United States by showing them first hand that this war is real. Casualties are inevitable. But our people will not die in vain. They are fighting against the evils of terrorism throughout the world and to seek retribution for the victims of the September 11, 2001, catastrophe. ...
