teams warmed up. After that the second horn rang alerting both of the teams that it was game time. Before the first drop of the puck some sixty year old, wrinkled up, wannabe stripper lady, sang the National Anthem. The second she started I knew it was going to be a disaster. She could not hit a single note right. That is when Dirt, the dirtiest kid you will ever meet, screamed out, "My mute grandma could sing ten times better than you," that is when the whole crowd erupted with laughter. After the comedy show was over both of the teams sent out their starters for the first face-off. The referee blew his whistle and picked the puck up from the linesman so he could start the game. The place was silent as the referee dropped the puck. The second the puck was on the ice the crowds started cheering. The feeling of having every person in the stands watching you, was nerve-wracking. After ten minutes into the first period the score was tied at 0-0. I could taste the salty sweat as it dripped down my steaming hot face. The crowd started to get kind of quiet when out of the blue my teammate blasted a shot from the top of the face-off circle making the score 1-0, De Smet. This got our crowd fired up causing the opposing team to get down on themselves. The first period ended with my team up by one goal. For the first time in this match between DeSmet and Chaminade, I had some confidence that we were destined to win. The second period started with some very hard hits and was extremely quick paced. The first five minutes had gone by and we were dominating the game when a Chaminade player broke free from the third line defense and scored a fluke goal off a very slow, trickling shot. This changed the momentum of the game. Within seconds, the game went from exciting to edge of your seat action.
