Woman in sport
Woman in sport Sports have a good effect on people. It not only keeps your body in shape but it also keeps your mind quick and responsive. The majority of the people now agree that both women and men should be in a lot of physical activity. Half a century ago, it was considered bad for women to be so involved in sport. My mom who just recently turned fifty-seven. She came from mexico in her mid twenties but grew up in a very conservative town. My parents just came back from a trip there and while some things have changed some other items have not. Some things in sports have really changed in the last few decades in my mom’s home town. Women before where though of as being weak both physically and mentally. One gets the true aspect of how women would be treated how. My mom grew up in a town which numbered less than five thousand in population. In such small towns, rumors, rules and sexism seem to thrive to obscene levels. My mother never went above the elementary school level in education. She grew up with the mentality that she would be nothing more than a house wife and her job with strictly be inside the house. With that aspect now in mind, it should not surprise you in know that her form of physical activity at school was sewing. No in place basketball, no tennis, no mild form of running, just sewing was the extracurial activity. Everyone knew that you needed some sort of exercise but they thought that gardening and house cleaning where enough for women. Women where thought of as fragile, weak and by being physically active they endangered themselves and the chance of bearing children. It wasn’t till after interviewing my mom that I learned that there was one thing that one did which could be called a sport, horse riding. While it wasn’t every day that she rode the horse to and from a location which had to be a special place. The boys on the other hand just ride the horse just to get to the plaza in two minutes instead of five. Whenever my mother went to ride a horse, she had to wear a dress that was long After interviewing my mom I realized how completely different she was brought up to be. What I expected was that she of course didn’t wear pants, but played sports with not much action in them. What I ended up finding was much much different. What Bibliography:
