Roswell
Roswell The Roswell case is one of the best-documented and most controversial UFO cases ever. In July of 1947 at Swobe Air Force Base in New Mexico, a small brightly glowing object was observed to crash land at about 11:30 PM. The government denied this fact in all their news releases, press conferences, and interviews. They never admitted to any kind of UFO but over the years have changed their story several times. The fact that they have changed their story so many times is one of the reasons many people suspect some kind of cover up. There were several key witnesses and eyewitnesses admitting to seeing some kind of ship crash that night. However, the government still denies the fact today no matter how much evidence is found (The New Book of Knowledge). There is just so much evidence pointing towards a UFO crash that the government can’t deny the fact anymore that the Roswell case is a government cover up. Most of the key evidence in the case comes from many of the eyewitness accounts from local farmers and people from the town of Roswell itself. On the night of July 4, 1947 the skies around Roswell were filled with a huge thunderstorm. Bright flashes of light and loud clasp of thunder erupted in the skies. Local farmer Mac Brazel and his son heard strange sounds during the night but they decided to go to sleep and look at the damage in the morning. In the morning the farmer and his son were surprised to discover an area where pieces of metal and debris were spread throughout the field. Mr. Brazel thought that the pieces looked very strange, so he loaded them in his truck and took them to Roswell, which was about 75 miles away. He gave the pieces to the sheriff who decided to call the Roswell army field. He thought that the pieces could be from the wreckage of a top-secret project but when the army checked they found that there were no projects in the area on that night (Comptons Encyclopedia 2000). Jesse Marcel and Captain Sheridan Cavitt decided to drive out to the crash site themselves. When they arrived and seen the site they decided that the wreckage was not from this world, so they decided to contact the pentagon. However by this time the pentagon already knew what was happening in Roswell and General Clemence was told to tell the Roswell Army Field that they must cover the whole thing up (www.nbci.com). There were also many small accounts and encounters with what people believe to be UFOs in the area. There was activity in Roswell even four years before the crash, but the activity increased greatly just three weeks before the crash. Several American Air lines Planes reported picking up strange activity on there radars just 20 miles away from the sight of the crash during flights later in the evening (www.parascope.com). Many night’s witnesses also recall seeing jet fighters leave the air force base in the direction of the objects at supersonic speeds, one of these chases was said to happen on the night of July 2 just 2 days before the crash. A local private pilot in Roswell Kenneth Arnold told another account. Arnold was flying near MT. Ranier when he recalls seeing nine objects traveling at apparent supersonic speeds in the direction of Roswell. Arnold described the objects as moving through the air in a skipping motion like saucers skipping across the surface of the water. A few minutes later he also recalls seeing a formation of jets heading in the direction the apparent UFOs went in close pursuit (www.parascope.com). One of the best witness accounts comes from the army and its radar operators themselves. The object began appearing on military radars many days before the crash. On July 1 all the officers and technicians had been tracking the object on their radars, they reported that at times the object would just seem to disappear and reappear on screen suddenly. They said that it couldn’t have been a malfunction in the equipment but rather something extraterrestrial (search.Epnet.com). Starting on July 2nd Steve Mackmzie, who was stationed at Roswell was ordered to report to the White Sounds Proving Ground Radar Site. Once at the sight he was ordered to report to the Brigadier General at the base on his findings. Mackmzie throughout the day reported clusters of 9 to 10 UFOs on the screen doing the same thing as before suddenly disappearing and reappearing. The Brigadier general couldn’t believe what he was hearing so he made phone calls to radar operators in Santa Fe and Albuquerque; both places reported the same type of strange activity (www.parascope.com). Southwest of the base, Corporal E L. Pyles looked out to see what he first thought to be a shooting star but later realized that it was to large and moved to slow. He testified that the crash happened around 11-11:30 on the night of July 4. That same night at St Mary’s Hospital in Roswell two catholic nuns saw the crash directly north of them and reported the crash to have accrued around 11 or 11: 30 (www.nbci.com). Another reason people believe that it is in fact a cover up is the extreme protection ands precaution taken towards the witnesses. Some archeologist were swore to secrecy and even said to have been threatened with death or death if family members and relatives. In the Case of Mac Brazel, the farmer who first discovered the debris, the army detained him for seven or eight days while cleanup operations took place. He was also denied access to a phone and could have no form of communication with his family. He was then given an army physical and subjected to questioning and interrogations, while being kept under house arrest by the Roswell army (www.state.gov). Besides witnesses there are still many key factors that lead people to believe that the government at something to cover up at Roswell, like the extreme security measures that were taken at the crash site. Armed guards encircled the primary location. There were over 20 riflemen or sharpshooters stationed around the area in small military out post. There was MPs set around in a 3-mile perimeter along roads and in jeeps in the surrounding hills and countryside. They also had armed helicopters in surrounding areas keeping close watch. In the case of any kind of private or spy plane trying to take pictures there were fighter jets put into reserve at the air force base ready to shoot down or scare away planes. If they felt that they couldn’t trust some military men they were taken away and others were brought in and sworn to secretary just like every one on the base had to be. Some people even say that satellites were shut down temporary and surveillance tapes were destroyed or filed away, but this fact has not yet been proven (www.parascope.com). Besides witnesses and high security measures taken some of the most key evidence comes from the crash site itself. Some of the remains that were seen were said to look like small pieces of metallic fragments. Others looked to be like odd plastic beams, snarls of string, and some sort of sticky transparent fabric. When some government exports looked at these objects they said that knew of no such materials. When some of these objects were looked at under high power microscopes the origin of some of the materials were undetectable and said to be out of this world (www.nbci.com). When the air force arrived at the Roswell crash site, there were two other people exploring. A man who went by the name of Ragsdale and a women by the name of truelove. The two had been collecting metal specimens and other pieces of debris, but what they saw after that was even more significant. There were 5 bodies total lying on the ground that varied between 4 and 5 feet long. Out of the 5, they reported 3 being dead, 1 in critical condition, and the last being perfectly fine. The army also looked around and found a big craft in the side of a nearby mountain. The ship was leaning on about a 30-degree angle, with large pieces of debris scattered about. After the air force had searched and photographed they area they began cleaning up. The bodies were loaded into an ambulance after being put into body bags. The area was cleaned over the next few days to make it virtually impossible to find any debris. They used industrial sized vacuum cleaners to take care of the rest (www.abqjournal.com). Soon after the crash special flights arrived from Washington Dc with additional troops, supplies, and medical doctors. Other flights also arrived from Allangride and Kirkwood Air Force Bases. These plans were used to transport the ship, large pieces of debris, and bodies to unknown locations On Tuesday July 8, 1947 at 12 PM the Roswell Army Air Field Base commander Col. William Blanchard, announced the recovery of a flying disk. Even though he was sworn to secrecy he believed this information to be a great importance to all Americans. After this act of defiance Blanchard was soon killed in a mysterious care crash, many believe that the government didn’t want him to release any more information and was somehow involved in his death (www.iufomrc.org). On July 9, 1947 military officials toured news media offices in Roswell, Albuquerque, and Santa Fe to retrieve original press releases sent out by the Army Air Field Base, the press releases revealed that they had retrieved a flying disk. They also found a taped conversation with Mac Brazel were he admitted to seeing a flying disk (www.parascope.com). The last piece of evidence that points to a government cover up accrued in 1994. A national accounting officer investigated the case and brought points out that didn’t support the original clams of a weather balloon, so once again they changed their story saying that it was a spy balloon. Another admitted lie by the US government (www.Roswell.com). The Roswell case is so controversial and many people have different beliefs as to what happened on that night. However there is just to much evidence pointing towards an apparent government cover up that it cant be disputed. The main evidence comes from the many eyewitness accounts of the crash. The two most key witnesses are farmer Mac Brazel, and the two explorers Ragsdale and truelove. Another reason it is believed to be a cover up comes from the actions taken by the government. The security was so high around the area that it was obvious that they were trying to cover something up. Other people and military officers even admitted in their statements to seeing some kind of UFO and alien bodies. They evidence in this case is just overwhelming to deny the fact that the Roswell incident is a government cover up.
