Given that "action" or 'direction" is often required to move matters forward in this field, this style may be especially useful in setting goals and objectives. The choice of a style or approach to communication may also vary according to the task at hand, the relations between the communicators, and the relative formality of the setting. In any even, communication is key in law enforcement largely because the field is bound by specific rules, regulations and laws that shape and influence the outcome of every case (Lilly, et al, 2007). Clarity and consistency are key elements in effective communication in this and other fields.
