is very sudel and it symbolizes various different things. It symbolizes life after death in heaven, and hope because Christ is looking above the men in despair and praying for something. And most important it symbolizes the Christian religion because Christ is kneeling before God and praying.Both paintings are very good representations of the 15th century art. Due to the shapes, colors, and hues used in the paintings, it gives us a sense of almost being inside the painting. Most of the objects are proportional and 3 dimensional. The paintings also contain lots of symbolic figures such as water, angels, and Christ himself.The Lamentation by Christus and The Agony in the Garden by Raphael both show Christ and the mourners that need him so. However the painting done by Christus has more life. May be because it is done in color or on a larger scale than the one painted by Raphael. I think that the Lamentation shows more and symbolizes more faith and the religious aspect of the two works of art. Even though they are very closely related, the Lamentation shows a better insight on the whole Renaissance movement and the 15th century as a whole. ...
