gan typing and creating the book report physically. Mr. Covey states that people work with their minds until they get a clear image of what they want to build. Habit 3 is to Put First Things First. In order to put first things first, you must first be proactive and then mentally create the project that you are about to start. One way to begin to put first things first, is to create a matrix with 4 Quadrants. Quadrant 1 is important and urgent. Quadrant 2 is important but not urgent. Quadrant 3 is not important but urgent and Quadrant 4 is not important and not urgent. When you are working, you are given allot of projects and tasks to complete. Several projects can be given to you at the same time. By using this matrix you can make decisions as to which projects to start first. Many people put all of their projects in one quadrant. If all projects are put into quadrant 1 you could become very stressed out or burned out. These people are being reactive not proactive. People who put all of their projects in quadrants 3 or 4, tend to be irresponsible. Not everything can be not urgent or not important. The best quadrant to spend most of your time in is quadrant 2. Things that are important but not urgent. People that use quadrant 2 for the most part have time to visualize projects before they create them. Quadrant 2 is the most efficient quadrant to be in and it is the most used quadrant of highly effective people. Habit 4 is to Think Win/Win. To think win/win you have to begin with the understanding that your way is not the only way to do things. Cooperation and commitment are the keys to thinking win/win. Win/win is a belief in the third alternative. It’s not your way or my way; it’s a better way.
