While Mr. Perry was at the Peterson home giving information to the FBI Mrs. Perry walked over to the Petersons and just stood in the doorway silent. Her face and hair were wet with snow and her face marble white. The pupils of her eyes were dilated and staring, she was shaking tremendously. She was holding a piece of paper in her hand. Mr. Perry ran over to her just in time before she collapsed. Sobbing she tells him that she just got a phone call from the kidnapper and mad her write the message down. When he repeated his name she realized that she has heard that voice before, it was someone that she knew. This scene is suspenseful because the author just ends the chapter there and does not tell who it was on the phone, where she knew him from or where. In all of these scenes Mark Higgins Clark uses suspense to grab her readers attention by not letting on to the main questions of a reader. Who, what, when, where, and why. She keeps her books interesting and suspenseful throughout them to make her readers keep turning the pages....
