e to join them. He also feels that they did a pretty good job with doing so and gathered many people who gave them more power. I think that Mr. Achebe thoughts were wrong. He saw that the missionaries were getting a lot of people to join their tribe and gaining influence in the tribe. He should have said something about the tribe becoming smaller and losing power. He waited too long to speak up and by that time the tribe was unraveling way to quickly to stop it.Mr. Achebe was behind the proverbial ?rock and a hard place?. If he spoke up about the missionaries growing power he would be admitting that they were being successful. On the other hand if he didn?t say something he would lose his tribe. He chose to lose his tribe. Over the centuries Christianity has brought pain to some and relief to others. This book records one tribe?s example where teaching Gods truth helped remove life-threatening superstitions. This saved lives and brought relief to a group of people who were living in bondage and fear. This is the good news we have to share. ...
