na mad. Pages 22 41Jem stops a fight between Scout and Walter Cunningham and out of nowhere invites him for dinner. Scout makes an rude remark about Walters crazyeating habits at the dining table, and is harshly yelled at by Calpurnia. Back at school, Miss Carolina is disgusted to see a mouse in Burris Ewells hair and sends him home to get clean. The boys rude behavior shocks the teacher and one student offers an explanation about the lifestyle of the Ewells, who break all rules and live a life lazy. Back home, Scout talks to Atticus, if she can skip school and stay at home like the Ewells. Atticus explains to her that sometimes rules are bent, but its not always for the best, so Scout would have to go to school. Another section of the Maycomb County is told here. The Ewells are what was called the white trash who lived in poverty, yet make no attempts to come up out of it. The people have to accept their way of life and they are just avoid them. The Cunninghams, are as poor, but are not like the Ewells, in that they have self-respect, and honestyScout runs home from school, she sees something shiny in the oak tree outside the Radley house. She finds some chewing gum wrapped in tin foil and stuffed into a hole in the its trunk. Scout desides to put it in her mouth.Jem, makes Scout spit it out. But the next day, when they pass by the same place, they discover a box containing two shining pennies in it. First they decide to see if anybody had lost some pennies, and if there would be no one, they would keep them for themselves. Dill arrives in Maycomb, for the summer. While they are playing together, Scout gets into an old tire which is pushed over by Jem. It starts rolling down the road and stops right outside the Radley house. Scout runs back, leaving the tire behind. Jem, with muchhas to go and get it because Scout is scared. Then they decide to play a game, with Jem pretending to be Boo. And Scout playing small women roles. They eve...
