(Chapter XXVII, page 291-920)This passage comes when Heathcliff kidnaps Catherine and forces her to marry Linton. Heathcliff hits someone, locks someone away, but also forces someone to marry. This cannot be a good example of someone raised under a strict religious background.Another example of religion not present in Wuthering Heights is the conflict between the supernatural spirit and Mr. Lockwood.Terror made me cruel: and, finding it useless to attempt shaking the creature off, I pulled its wrist on to the broken pane, and rubbed it to and fro till the blood ran down and soaked the bed-clothes. (Chapter III, page 43)This conflict occurs when Mr. Lockwood is thinking about buying the estate and he is staying in Catherine old room. Not only does this quote show violence, but it also shows a supernatural presence that, in my opinion, is not a religious belief. If Emily Bronte believes in spirits, then I feel she was not brought up religiously.It is hard to find one character in both households who stick to good religious beliefs. Also many conflicts happen throughout the novel whether it be physical, emotional, or supernatural. The reason this non-religious events and characters happen is possibly because Emily Bronte was not brought up religiously. These aspects of religion, not present, are my own personal, opinionated feelings of my religion. Me beliefs probably are why I feel these conflicts are wrong, but it is obvious there is no proof strong religion in Wuthering Heights. ...
