wo of you in age is great, and you must try to recognize many of the thing that aredifferent in todays society, rather than when you were thier age.Diversity in age and the established roles of your parent-child relationship canmake it difficult for you to do the things necessary to promote individuality andindependence. As well as seeing these roles in a clear light, there are other things that cancloud thier vision and not let them make the best detachment decisions. Parents have manyissues regarding how thier children begin to speak with them during this process. Manyparents find it disrespectful and demeaning, while in actuality it is simply a more confidantand working mind that has evolved through thier first major separation; college. Thisconfident and diplomatic way of speaking expresses how much the child has grown andwe want you to make note of that positively.You must be loving still, though. We are not looking so much for parents in theauthoritative way, we are looking more for advice givers, to which we can chose to listento or not. This may sound harsh but in all reality, it is the support of our parents that weneed and without this support we are naturally unable to detach because of feelings ofguilt. Dr. Kathleen Murphey explained this phenomenon When parents inflict guilt uponthere children for doing the things that they naturally need to do as young adults, this canslow up the developmental process if not cause it to cease. I know that it is everyparents dream o raise thier children to be working and stable adults. It must be noted,however, that by raising us too long, that goal will not be attainable. In conclusion, It is extremely important that you parents let this processoccur, we are the youth of America as i stated before, and we are itching to become thefresh new movers and shakers int his world.
