Baseball is looking into the petition and hopefully will be reviewed seriously by the Baseball Commissioners office. Ted Williams said, ?Joe was banned for life by Judge Landis, and his life is over, so give the man his due place in baseball history.? Williams mentioned the support of other Hall of Famers for Joe?s induction. (Everstine 4)Not only are professional ball players supporting the induction of Joe Jackson into the Hall of Fame, but baseball fans have supported his story for many years. Last year, more than 90,000 people from Jackson?s hometown, Greenville, S.C. signed a petition requesting his induction into the Hall of Fame. Articles and commentaries have been written by the public and sports columnists encouraging his induction. Joe?s World Series statistics speak for themselves, no one who testified in court said Joe Jackson was participating in the fix. Joe had twice tried to inform his owner of the fix but his owner wouldn?t meet or listen to him. In spite of this, Joe was banned from baseball in 1920. He then spent the rest of his life either playing at an amateur level or coaching the game to kids. ?Shoeless? Joe Jackson never held any bad feeling towards Major League Baseball and it is now time for baseball to do the right thing, to reinstate him, to stop the bad feelings against him. (The Facts 3)...
