The Pax Romana

quered lands inherited the law of the Roman Empire due to the presence ofRoman soldiers or governmental aids from Rome. It was due to this type of law and order thatthe Pax Romana lasted so long, this period of peace was established by 12 great rulers, that weremolded after the Greeks. During the Pax Romana, many great achievements occurred and bases for western styleliving was set. We still today follow Roman law and build the Romans did. Although manywould argue that Rome was just a theft that stole ideas from the Greeks that came before them. Rome has established its self as a never dying civilization. How is that some two thousands yearslater many still practice the way of the Romans? Many would say great literature or philosophers,but it was problem the great leaders that helped sustain such a life style in which one can lookforward to the leisure time that is so greatly desired. The origin of leisure time as western societyknows it today was planted and sown in Rome. The daily of a Roman and of a modern dayAmerican is not that much different they both are striving for that time, the time spend doingsomething they enjoy. Two hundred years of Roman rule throughout Europe, western Asia, andnorthern Africa brought peace and prosperity to the people of Rome and many parts of itsempire, and its influence is still felt today.Notes 1 J.P.V.D.
