That signalled the need for another crusade.The crusaders themselves were lead by three Kings: Fredrick Barbrossa, Phillip Augustus of France and Richard Lionheart of England.The Fourth Crusade - 1202 - 1204.The fourth crusade was a shameful business. No-one came back in perfect health. Pope Innocent III was worried about what was happening in the east. His plan was to have the crusade led by barons not Kings. The leaders were Thaibald of Champagne with Baldwin IX, Count of Flanders, Henry, his brother; Louis the Count of Blois and Geoffrey of Villenarnardown. There were many problems: for example to find ships and a greater problem arose when Thaibald died in 1201. The crusades chose a new leader leader - Bonniface of Montferrat. Other Crusades:Children's Crusade - 1212.In ways you may think this is the saddest crusade of all. It was led by children although it was thought that adults were behind it; the Church thought that it would maybe make the Kings of Europe feel guilty. The French were led by Stephen - a little shepherd boy. The Germans were led by Nicholas - a boy from a village near the Rhine. On the way two-thirds either turned back, fell to their death or got lost....
