A Day At the Fair

y sister and her friend care for the midway that much, so we head over to Heritage Square.Heritage Square is an area with an old west setting. There are many different stands and shops. The caricature stand is located here. The only food stand unique to here is the buffalo burger stand. The most fun thing here, new this year, is the state fair history museum. It is located behind Heritage Square in three old train cars and a caboose. The museum has things like old state fair posters, pictures, and artifacts. We take a walk through, leave Heritage Square, and head for the Skyride. The Skyride is a ski gondola, with terminals on both ends of the fair. One is by Heritage square, the other by the Agriculture/Horticulture Building. We buy our tickets and get in line. My sister likes to try to guess what color our gondola will be. The line is always longer on this end, because a lot of people get on at the other end, which is closer to the entrance, and buy a round trip, meaning they dont get out at our end. It is finally our turn. I get in with my mom and friend. This gives you sort of a close up, birds eye view of the fairgrounds. The ride lasts about three minutes. When we arrive at the other terminal, someone opens the door and we get out. My sister asks if we can go on the Space tower. We say all right and walk across the street. We walk across the street to the red, white, and blue space tower. Tickets are cheap, only $2 for adults. There are two levels in the circular cab. It really doesnt matter which level you are on; you get pretty much the same view from both levels. We start to lift off. When we are about a third of the way up, the cab starts to revolve slowly. When we get to the top of the 300-plus foot tower, we are rewarded with a birds-eye view of the fairgrounds. The midway appears as an oasis of light in a relatively dark fairgrounds.
