A Day At the Fair

imal barns. On the way we pass the River Ride, the large water ride with round, floating tubs that hold five or six people. The first barn we get to is the Sheep and Poultry barn. As I walk through the rooster part there is nonstop cock-a-doodle-doo-ing. They have many different kinds of sheep in the sheep part. Across the street is the Coliseum. This is where all the horse races and rodeos are held. I have never been inside, and I dont plan on going this year. The next two barns are the Horse and Cattle barns, on the right and left side of the street, respectively. The Horse Barn has with many different breeds of horses. Adjacent to the Horse Barn is the Judging Arena. This is where all the animals are judged and given awards. Judging actually took place yesterday, the day before the fair opens. The Cattle Barn houses many different breeds of cattle. There is also a milking parlor with demonstrations several times a day. One thing that I find a bit strange is that all of the barns are totally clean. I have worked on a farm all summer and barns are anything but squeaky clean. There is not a speck of manure in sight. The last barn is the Swine Barn. There are many different kinds of pigs and piglets. They have their own little arena for shows and events. The main attraction in here is the largest boar contest. These pigs are absolutely humongous, with the heaviest boar weighing in at about 1,400 pounds. It is about four oclock, and our next destination is the Mighty Midway. Up until a couple years ago I liked rides. Now I get sick on anything that spins. My sister, who is eight years old, will go on nearly anything. The midway is a bright, colorful, noisy place. There is loud music blaring from all of the rides, and it is quickly getting unnerving. There are all sorts of rides, ranging from tame choices like the swings to extreme, stomach churning machines like Power Surge and X-Treme. None of us other than m...
