ystem. Such a man is named into a lifeof unredeemed drudgery in which others consume theproduct of his labor. Unsurprisingly, few societiesthat have advanced this socialist ideal have found manyvolunteers to be the men of ability who keep theeconomy running. This can be stated more essentially, by assertingthat capitalism is practical simply because it relieson the undying motive which is the power of selfinterest. Capitalism drives people to be loyal bytheir own goal and be the ambition for lifeimprovement. These people are driven by the idea thatthe value of a life is irreplaceable and cannot bewasted or sacrificed. This principle is also a crucialmoral principle which states that every man is an endin himself, and not a mere cog in the collectivemachine to be exploited for the ends of others. Almostall of the intellectuals from our time seem to condemnindividualism and that the individual is a mere tool,ventured for the ends of the society. Because thesociety is only a group of individuals, some men mustbe sacrificed for those other men who want to representsociety. Socialism proposes that the means of production becontrolled by the state, not the individual. Accordingto Karl Marx, capitalism causes the working class tofeel alienated from their work and from society. Marxalso believed that capitalism was the cause of classstruggles between the bourgeois and the proletariat. The problem with socialism is that it is not practical. Capitalism is not only practical, but moral.Capitalism is the only system that safeguards thefreedom of thought and the integrity of the individual. As was illustrated by the book, The Fountainhead, forevery product that improves human life is made possibleby the thinking of the worlds creators and producers. Thus, as a society, we take pleasure in a higherquality of life. We enjoy abundant crops due to moreefficient methods of agriculture. We enjoy a life spanthat is almost double that of the p...
