o decide with each individual case. In this situation, this is where the question of cruel punishment, or effective deterrent comes into light. The financial problems are extreme because the United States has spent over 2 billion dollars for the execution of inmates on death row. The average execution costs about 3 million dollars and up to 10 million in some cases (www.law.about.com).One other reason why people oppose the death penalty is because of the way the media portrays the death penalty.
