Erin Brockovich

t happen to be on a level with Ed.One thing that remains unclear in this scene is where our sympathies lie. At first it seems like Ed is trying to settle for the easy option and not go to a tribunal. The residents then go to walk out but by using his education from law school (which Erin incidentally is without), Ed is able to demonstrate a case study. By doing so he convinces the easily manipulated public that they need the money now and gets them to stay. Our sympathies on this scene change from being with the town’s inhabitants to being with Ed. It is a very clever scene that subtly tones our point of view and makes us see how much the public is suffering with a table turning image of a lady who ‘cant wait’ 10-15 years for compensation.In the end of the film, the residents are awarded 330,000,000 and Erin is given a tidy check, which is the end to an epic and unbelievably true epic. The sad end to the real story is that Erin Brochovich has now contracted cancer because of the water supplied by PG&E....
