parents are equipped themselves with the correct reasoning patterns. Without teaching logic, it is like asking someone to get to California from New York with no map. Yes, they might be able to find their way but it will take much longer then if you supply directions. And who is to say that even if they got to California that it was the most efficient way to get there. Appling logic in your daily life happens whenever you make a decision concerning yourself or others. A decision is a determination arrived at after consideration or a report of a conclusion. Hence you will act upon your conclusion, directly affecting your life and others. All those who make at least one decision in his or her life use some kind of logic. Every human makes at least one decision in his or her life. Therefore, every human must use some kind of logic. If this logic that they use is not comprised of the right methods and principles then they will have fallacies in their reasoning (processing information). Throughout human existence, even in so-called civilized societies, there are stereotypes and assumptions that are not logically supportable. If we put people into stereotypes we make people one-dimensional which stops us from treating them like humans. All humans are multi-dimensional. They have depth. What we see is not the only thing that they are capable of being. Through logic we can see when we unjustly put people in stereotypes and prevent ourselves from living in illusion, intolerance, and conflict. The reason to pass a logic course should be taken seriously because this affects our lives directly. Without a clear understanding of logic we will setup ourselves up for failure.
