Functionalism

is to implement a level of teamwork. Without teamwork and sharing, life in the desert would become almost impossible. The people who couldn’t hunt for themselves would starve to death. It would only be a matter of time before the healthy get sick or injured and need some offerings. It’s a cycle of life everyone needs help sometime.Conflict TheoryEast and West GermanyThe style of living differs a great deal from East Germany to West Germany. West Germans take great pride in tangible possessions. While the Germans in the East value a more intangible lifestyle. Each group has a fair stake in the action. The conflict is the East promote capitalism on the other hand the West promote labor and equality.After WWII East German buildings were built massive and of great quality. The highways were filled with exotic cars traveling at high speeds. The East Germans take pride in working to full capacity, in order to support their lavish lifestyles. The work week was generally a grueling 37 hours long. They didn’t take much time out for breaks and chit chat. The disabled and addicted were ignored by the individual. The thought was that “That’s not my business-the officials (staff) are paid for that.” (p242) In contrast with the East, the West had a different set of ideals. They believed that labor produces the goods that wealth depends on. Capitalism was frowned upon, because that would disrupt their value of equality. East German society was committed to providing life’s essentials for all. Everyone no matter what job they do was paid the same. Shelter was cheap but of poor quality and no style.The only car available was a poor running Trabant. No body was homeless and everybody worked no matter the work load. The most likely result of the conflict would be a happy medium. The United States would be an excellent model. We value both capitalism and labor. We understand that without ...
