Hesays that these men may have been born with the fault, so they can’t help it. It is almostas if even before he speaks with his father he already knows that disaster is going tostrike him. This speech confirms the idea that he’s going to be a tragic hero with a tragicfault.When Hamlet speaks to the ghost, his father, he learns about the truth of hisfathers death and admits the emotions which will create his downfall. He discovers thathis father was murdered by his uncle with poison. Hamlet has already been deeplydepressed by this death, and because of his mother’s quick remarriage. Hamlet is furiousby this new information and will do anything the ghost requests. “O villain, villain,smiling, damned villain! My tables -meet it is I set it down that one may smile, andsmile, and be a villain” (1.5.106-109) Hamlet now plans to take revenge and kill hisuncle at any cost to help his father rest in peace. Through this encounter with the ghostHamlet is able to focus all of his mixed feelings into anger against his uncle. Hamlet hasworthy intentions to do what is right, but he gets wrapped up in his emotions, that hecan’t restrain. This anger Hamlet develops is uncontrollable because he loses his logic. Therefore, this insurgent behavior leads to his fall.One result of Hamlet’s strong negative feelings is the suicide of Ophelia. Opheliais mistreated by the man she loves, Hamlet. When they meet in act III Hamlet asks hercruelly misleading questions about her chastity. Ophelia is unable to understand what hemeans and she is unable to stand up to him, so he taunts her more.
