Why wouldn’t thou be a breeder of sinners?”(3.1.120-121) After he has gone out, Ophelia speaks of herself as “ladies most deduct andwretched” for having once been moved by “music vows,” which mean nothing now that“noble mind is here o’er thrown!” (3.1.146-157) But Hamlet has not finished with her. At the play he has arranged to sit with Ophelia. He says cruel jokes to humiliate her, andat first she shows total innocence of his meaning. He has only been playing withOphelia, boosting his own confidence by his superior jokes at her innocence. Hamletuses his anger against Ophelia to hurt her, which ends with her suicide. Hamlet is the tragic hero of the play because he is a prince with nobilitythat others look up to and he has a tragic flaw of wrath, which ultimately destroyedhimself. Shakespeare did not intend his dark prince to be insane supports the idea that hewas intended to be firmly rooted in reason. His anger results in his need to seek revengeon his uncle, the contribution to Ophelia suicide, and finally the death of himself alongwith many others. In the end Hamlet realized his defect, but also that there was nopossible way he could avoid his awful predicament....
